ROAMING TOGETHER

a blog by our team

Introducing "Sojourner"

When my wife and I decided to become digital roamers, we sold both of our vehicles and bought this 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon.

Yes, that was before the current gas crisis, so probably not the most economical choice, but it’s been great for us so far.

Of course, if you drive a Jeep, you know there is a strong culture that includes naming your Jeep. My previous Jeep was a 2008 Wrangler Rubicon 2-door I affectionately named “Squatch.” This Jeep, being newer and bright white, didn’t lend itself to the sasquatch theme (Yeti? Abominable?) so for a time, we were unnamed.

Then we started talking about our adventures traveling around the country as digital nomads (or vagabonds as my mother-in-law categorized us). We aren’t homeless, we aren’t Gypsies… we are sojourners.

To “sojourn” is to stay in one place for a short period of time, so a sojourner is someone who resides temporarily in a place. That’s exactly what we’re doing. We are staying in Airbnb’s around the country for 3-6 weeks at a time and then traveling to the next destination on the map.

Naming the Jeep “Sojourner” just seemed appropriate.

We have been traveling around the southeast and have started our migration west. If you happen to see us on the road or in your hometown, be sure to wave! You can also follow our travels here on the website and through our blog posts.

If you are a roamer or digital nomad, tell us where you are, what you do, and what you drive in the comments.
