Never Stop Exploring

This is one of the pictures hanging in the Airbnb that we are currently staying in and it is a motto that my wife and I have always believed in.
Never stop exploring.
We are “digital roamers” traveling around the United States and exploring states, national parks, and museums. We are not retired (and no, we don’t have an RV). We are both still working but we are fortunate enough to have jobs and careers that allow us to be 100% remote.
We are used to traveling. Before we started roaming, my wife and I were both management consultants, traveling from client site to client site, and had projects across the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and the UK. Our consulting business allowed us to collect air miles and hotel points that we’ve used to visit other destinations on holiday – Greece, Italy, Africa, England, Scotland, Ireland, and many parts of Europe.
Travel is important to me. I’ve always loved history, and architecture, and I appreciate cultures and cuisines and travel gives me the opportunity to experience all these things.
Travel opens our eyes, expands our minds, and shows us just how similar we are to people around the world. Yes, the language is different, the currency is different, but that has never stopped us from communicating and learning and enjoying our time, and meeting the various people along the way.
The point of exploring is to learn, and I am committed to life-long learning. I want to know what’s new, what’s fresh, and what other people in my industry are doing so I can keep up with the latest trends.
There are always new software and new apps. There are always new ways to do things in your business. Just because you’ve “done it this way for years” doesn't make it right. Just because you’re running your business the way you were shown or the way the previous owners ran it doesn’t make it right.
One of the worst things you can do in your business is to remain unchanged. Don’t chain yourself to old-school processes and tactics. Don’t rest on your laurels. Remember: What got you HERE may not get you THERE. Always explore options, and opportunities, and keep learning.
